With every Status / الوضع Audio Journal issue, there is an accompanying show. In this second episode (-2) of the Status show, Bassam Haddad, Sinan Antoon, and Adel Iskandar discuss and synthesize the content of the interviews from Issue 2.1 through conversations with some of the hosts. In addition to exploring the wide array of one-on-one interviews, they also speak to hosts Huda Asfour and Tareq Radi on Status` first set of Special Segments.
Status / الوضع is an evolving critical, collaborative, and independent monthly audio journal combining analysis, reporting, and satire. It is mainly comprised of hard-hitting interviews/conversations, on-the-scene reports, reviews, informed commentary, and readings. Interviews from the region and beyond feature activists, journalists, scholars, artists, unusual conduits, and ordinary people. We highlight movers and shakers in “civil society” and beyond, who animate the new spaces, places, and modes of action that the uprisings engendered.
Episode (-2) can be found in the player below, with the English segments of the show found directly below the Arabic.
The goal of both the Status journal and show is to address salient matters in the political, economic, and social spheres, academia and the media. Beyond addressing events and developments, a distinct flavor of this Journal will be its attention to cultural production and the various processes of knowledge production and information dissemination for public consumption, via social or traditional media.
The first three parts are in Arabic. The next six parts are in English.
